Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Contrary to popular belief, the practice of scattering ashes in the sea or from the air is not in keeping with the Catholic Church’s accepted beliefs and doctrines.

Following the approval and endorsement of cremation by the Catholic Church, cremation side by side with the Columbarium is fast becoming the simple, the cleaner, the “greener” final method of laying to rest. With cremation gaining popularity only in recent years as a more inexpensive and practical option vis-à-vis traditional burials, those who have laid their loved ones to rest in this manner have attested to a lighter and shorter grieving period compared to the ceremony of a traditional burial. Because cremation is essentially about reducing the body to its simplest form of bone, this method helps in providing closure sooner rather than later and makes acceptance that tiny bit easier.
