Q: What is a columbary?
A. A columbary is a repository for the remains of cremated bodies. It is a place for the respectful and usually public storage of cinerary urns ( i.e. urns holding a deceased cremated remains). The term comes from the Latin word “columba” (meaning dove) and originally referred to compartmentalized housing for doves and pigeons.
Q: What documents are required in purchasing The Ascension Columbary vault?
A: The documents required to purchase The Ascension Columbary vault are very simple and easy to complete. Upon purchase, buyers are usually asked to fill out a Reservation Application form, Buyer’s Information Sheet and the Insurance Application Form*, sign the Purchase Agreement and the Computation Sheet, and submit a copy of any one of the following: valid passport, senior citizen card, or latest residence certificate with any valid ID. All completed documents should then be submitted to our office for processing.

A: In the event that the insured buyer dies within the payment period, the accredited insurance company will automatically pay the unpaid balance on the purchased vault in full in behalf of the deceased buyer.

Q: Who can avail of the FREE Credit Life Insurance?
A: The Ascension Columbary vault buyer who is a Filipino citizen and is of legal age (18-64 years old) at the time of purchase can be insured.
Q: When will the insurance coverage take effect?
A: Insurance coverage will start a month after the 1st payment. A contestability period of not more than one (1) year will automatically follow.
Q: What are the grounds for termination of the insurance?
A: The insurance shall automatically terminate on any of the following circumstances:
• When the account is fully paid
• When the account is in arrears for more than thirty (30) days
• When the rights to the vault is sold during the payment period
• When the principal buyer attains the age of sixty-five (65) years old
• When there is any form of misrepresentation by the buyer
Q: If termination of the insurance resulted from lapsed payments can it still be reinstated?
A: Terminated insurance resulting from lapsed payments can be reinstated simply by updating the account. However, the reinstated Insurance is subject to one (1) year contestability period that will start a month after the buyer updated his payments
Q: Is it possible to assign a minor as one of the beneficiaries?
A: The owner can assign a minor to become a beneficiary as long as a guardian beneficiary, who is of legal age, is also listed on the Insurance Application Form.
Q: Where can I pay my Ascension Columbary monthly dues?
A: Buyers can pay at the Head Office by cash, postdated checks, or credit cards. All major credit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD) are accepted. You may also pay thru our authorized office collector (by schedule), BDO Bills payment facility, Bayad Center and Cebuana Lhuilier.
Q: After buying “The Ascension Columbary vault”, do I still have to pay for monthly maintenance fees like in cemetery?
A: The facilities maintenance fund is already incorporated in the total contract price of your purchased vault, thus, there’s no need to pay expensive monthly dues once fully paid.
Q: Upon full payment of The Ascension Columbary vault, what will I get as a proof of ownership?
A: Unlike other columbaries and memorial lots, the ownership of The Ascension Columbary vault is perpetual. This is why upon full payment we issue the Notarized Deed of Sale and Certificate of Ownership to the client. You can be rest assured that there will be no expiration and renewal of contracts.
Q. What documents are required to process the Certificate of Ownership in The Ascension Columbary?
A: Upon full payment, buyers are required to sign the Deed of Sale and submit any of the following: valid passport, senior citizen card, or latest residence certificate with any valid ID and the Tax Identification Number. All completed documents should then be submitted to The Ascension Columbary office for processing, which takes six to eight weeks. The Certificate of ownership is release to fully paid buyer along with the processed and notarized deed of sale.
Q. If I don’t have Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN), does it mean I cannot buy The Ascension Columbary vault?
A: You can still buy The Ascension Columbary vault. However, upon full payment, you will still be required to submit your Taxpayer’s Identification Number. As such, you may file a one time TIN application at any Bureau of Internal Review Office near you by accomplishing the BIR form 1904.
Q: What are the requirements for inurnment?
A: Requirements for inurnment, which include the completely filled-out Inurnment form, a copy of the Death Certificate of the person to be inurned, proof of ownership (Certificate of Ownership / Deed of Sale), Cremation Certificate and Burial Permit issued by the Quezon City Civil Registrar Office and the corresponding Inurnment Fee, should be settled three (3) days prior to the actual date of inurnment. Special Power of Attorney authorizing the bearer to act in behalf of the buyer is an additional requirement for representatives who will transact with us.

Q: What are the requirements for transfer of property rights / ownership?
A: Transfer of property rights from one owner to another during the payment period is possible as long as the payments are up-to-date and the corresponding administrative fees have been paid. Transfer of property ownership from one owner to another for fully paid accounts is possible with a corresponding transfer fee and submission of required documents. The following documents must be submitted for transfer of ownership of fully paid accounts:
• Issued Certificate of Ownership to the old fully paid buyer
• Original Notarized Deed of Sale issued to the old fully Paid Buyer
Q: What happens if I lose my Ascension Columbary documents?
A: Purchase Agreements, Notarized Deed of Sale and Certificates of Ownership will be replaced upon payment of the corresponding charges for the loss of said documents and submission of a notarized Affidavit of Loss and submission of proof of notice publication to any newspaper.
